What We Value
The Human Vitality and Resilience Center (HVRC) is dedicated to empowering people to build their resilience to adversity and stress and invigorate their overall well-being. Greater resilience and well-being creates courage, hope, and dignity, and we see our contribution as a crucial investment toward human flourishing.
Significant advances have been made in the science of resilience, well-being, positive psychology, neuroscience, and physiology which offer new opportunities to improve the quality of the lives of individuals, groups, communities, and organizations. Our program is founded on this research and everything we present to our course participants is evidence-based.
Resilience
We believe the work of building resilience begins before adversity and hardship arrive in one’s life and we can be proactive in preparing for it. We have interpreted research and science on resilience for a unique definition and approach on teaching resilience skills to help build your toolkit.
Vitality
Vitality creates a life in which one is flourishing and thriving. It is a life well-lived, full of meaning, optimism, vigor, and physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual dynamism. We can help you to engage in a life full of vitality by using the latest scientific evidence to help you consciously develop your positive life skills.
Courage
One of the outcomes of the HVRC program is the ability to cultivate the courage needed to face life’s challenges. By joining us to consciously build your resilience, increase your vitality and well-being, and discover your strengths, you will have taken the first step toward uncovering and growing your courage.
Hope
We teach that optimism is a mindset, while hope is an action. We help you cultivate optimism while maintaining a realistic view of the world. The result of participating in HVRC’s programs is the ability to act with hope, an essential life tool which empowers you to create the future you want.
Dignity
Our program is designed to produce dignity of the human spirit by taking a whole person approach, offering participants the opportunity to explore the many aspects of resilience, vitality and well-being from the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual perspectives.
